Offered in collaboration with the Chinese Language Education Association (CLEA) and the College of Chinese Teachers at Beijing Language & Culture University, the program prepares students to teach Chinese in a variety of settings, whether those be language schools, after-school and weekend Chinese schools, universities and colleges, or businesses. Those who already work in the field will enhance their skills and broaden their range of employment opportunities, while those interested in entering the field will acquire the necessary educational foundation. Teachers who take advantage of the program will learn from respected teacher-trainers and linguists. Training workshops are held twice yearly.
Program Objectives
To provide teachers a thorough and up-to-date grounding in Chinese linguistics, cross-cultural communication and Chinese language teaching approaches, both theory and practice.





It has always been our concern to equip our teachers with efficient knowledge and skills in Chinese Being a very profound subject, it is uderstood that one could impossibly learn everthing overnight. Therefore, additional hours are introduced in all our teacher training programs.
In recent years, research has shown that teaching Chinese Language requires a solid foundation in Chinese culture and arts. This is an undenable fact now even if the language is taught at a very basic level. Teachers who are well trained in Chinese culture and arts are usually confident when sharing the language with others.
Joining this unique program is exciting and fun! It is specially designed to allow students to who share a great interest in getting to know Chinese culture and traditions, through practicing various Chinese arts. We engage Chinese masters, who provide us with an always reliable source of wisdom and knowledge. Students are inspired and encouraged to promote Chinese culture and practice Chinese arts actively. Our mission is to represent pure Chinese culture on more deeper and deeper levels and the instruction of Chinese arts widely – endeavouring to make cultural exhancge even stronger for all.
The National Putonghua Proficiency Test is the only recognized examination in China. Under the rule, civil servants, who are under 45, or new entries, must pass the test at Level 3A. Some cities or provinces such as Shanghai will request their civil servant to achieve Level 2B or above.
This program is jointly organized by IATCSOL and the International Han Institute (IHI) at preparing participants to take the PSC Test (Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi) at the end of the training. This test is held at South China Normal University in Guangzhou.
